Bioidentical hormones are made to replicate the hormones naturally produced by and circulating in our bodies. This means that the bioidentical hormone treatments recommended in our care plans are utilized, broken down, metabolized and have the same benefits/effects as our body's own natural hormones.
Testosterone in men seems to be primarily associated with increasing lean body mass, strength and sexual function, but it also greatly contributes to psychological status. It is one of the most important hormones for proper sleep, energy, and overall well-being. Testosterone is also one of the best natural anti-inflammatories produced by the body. It contributes to healing and recovery of tendons, ligaments and muscle. It can be administered via various methods: injections, creams or pellets.
Testosterone seems to be generally thought of as a male hormone but it is also EXTREMELY important for women. Testosterone therapy in women typically involves the administration of small doses of testosterone to address specific symptoms, such as low libido, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, difficulties with muscle mass and symptoms of menopause. It is the best hormone to increase collagen and elastin in the skin. Administration methods include: injections, creams, pellets and oral medications.
Thyroid replacement therapy (TRH) involves the administration of thyroid hormones to those with an underactive or low functioning thyroid gland. This therapy can help restore adequate/optimal thyroid function and alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, depression, and improves overall metabolic function. Administration is via an oral tablet/capsule.
Estradiol offers several benefits in managing menopausal symptoms and certain gynecological conditions. It can help alleviate hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood swings and weight gain. It protects against heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes (in both women AND MEN). While synthetic estrogen has been shown to have some adverse effects, bioidentical 17-beta-estradiol has shown no risk. It can be administered via various methods: orally, creams, patches, pellets or injections.
Progesterone is important for regulating the menstrual cycle, supporting fertility, and offering protection from uterine/breast cancer, osteoporosis, fibrocystic breast disease and ovarian cysts. Commonly prescribed synthetic progestins (those in oral birth control) have been associated with clotting abnormalities and cancer risks while bioidentical progesterone can avoid those risks, protect against cancer and alleviate unwanted symptoms. Administration methods include: orally and injections.
